We share our experience of preparing for PISA

March 3, 2023 within the walls of the school-gymnasium No. 24 named after Aaly Tokombaev held a regional seminar on preparing teachers for the International PISA testing. The seminar was attended by teachers of the Kyrgyz language, Russian language, mathematics and biology of the schools of the Pervomaisky district of Bishkek.

Recall that Kyrgyzstan has applied for participation in the International PISA testing, which will be held in 2025. This testing assesses the ability of students to use the acquired knowledge to solve problems of the widest range in various life situations.

At the official opening of the event, the director of the gymnasium Abduraimova Anara Khabibovna delivered a welcoming speech, where she touched upon the importance of educating a generation capable of acquiring new knowledge and skills and finding solutions. Rakhat Ishenbekovna Musaeva, director of the district education center, and Gulira Zholchievna, a center specialist, noted the importance of methodological preparation of teachers for PISA; the initiative to hold the event belongs to the district center. Deputy Director for Educational and Methodological Work Kulova Gulmira Sayakbaevna, accompanied by a presentation, spoke in detail about the features of the PISA International Testing and the need to develop the ability to apply the information obtained in the process of reading in various fields of activity.

Then the subject teachers spoke, presenting their experience with standard test tasks in their areas:

Bashmanova Ekaterina Yuryevna, teacher of Russian language and literature – “Reader literacy”;
Noikina Oksana Alexandrovna, teacher of physics and mathematics, head of the School of Natural Sciences – “Mathematical Literacy”;
Kulova Gulmira Sayakbaevna, teacher of biology, deputy director for educational and methodological work – “Natural science literacy”.
At the end of the seminar, the participants expressed their gratitude and readiness to improve their skills in the future direction.
