34th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet Army
On February 17, according to tradition, our school hosted a solemn event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the withdrawal of a limited contingent of Soviet Army from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, which was held with the participation of veterans of this war.
The event began with a speech by the Deputy vice-Principal for Educational Work Kupavtseva Larisa Nikolaevna, who spoke about the war in Afghanistan and how Soviet troops helped the civilian population. Footage from the Afghan events was shown.
Also, Kairylbubu Sagynbekovna Kuikeeva, a history teacher, spoke for the students about historical aspects. In her best traditions, she described in detail the course and stages of the war. Then, veterans spoke: captain Isken Zhumabekovich Bekturov, foreman Samat Myrzakmatovich Batyrbekov. In their speech, they shared their memories of their participation in the war, the difficulties they experienced, and how important it is to remember and respect those who gave their lives for peace on earth.
After the speeches of teachers and veterans, an exchange of views took place between the participants of the event, at which they discussed issues related to the war in Afghanistan, its consequences and significance for the history of our country. Veterans shared their experience and answered students’ questions, talking about how they felt at the forefront, how important the friendship and support of colleagues was.
The students expressed their gratitude to the veterans and pledged to remember that war is a terrible thing to be avoided, and that peace and friendship are the most important things to protect it with all your might. The event ended with a memorable moment – a minute of applause in honor of the veterans to the music of “Ukhodim”.
